REGARDING the proposal to use the land adjacent to the Keighley Tarn as a cemetery – Cemetery bid unveiled (Keighley News, September 25).
This is, to put it mildly, stupid.
Most people will be aware that spot was used as a tip for unwanted building material. But who knows what other materials may have been tipped there?
Another point to consider is the number of underground streams there are in that area.
Should any digging begin there we know what would happen. The streams would be diverted, and should there be any chemicals in the ground buried among the materials tipped there, then we can guess what problems could arise.
Great consideration needs to be taken before plans are passed. The other consideration is for the countryside and the local people.
