HALF a dozen more students in the Worth Valley have benefited from a grant scheme first set up more than 100 years ago.
Administrators of the Haworth Exhibition Trust held a meeting earlier this month (Oct) and made six grants of up to £125 each to local students.
Tony Maw, a spokesman for the exhibition trust, said: "This is a means of offsetting some of the costs of further and higher education.
"The successful applicants intend to use the money as a contribution to the cost of books.
"The trust, which is an old established one, exists to help young people going to university or other further educational institutions, provided they live in Haworth, Oxenhope or Stanbury and have attended at least one local school.
"The trust does not include Lees or Cross Roads.
"We don't normally get many applicants, but the trust is here and is available to help."
