PICTURE perfect photos have been submitted in droves to the exciting new Keighley News competition for all happy snappers out there.

As revealed earlier this year, the total prize package is worth more than £500, and follows on from the hugely successful inaugural event held last year to mark the Keighley News going full colour.

Our picture perfect contest puts readers' artistic efforts in the frame by sharing them with our thousands of readers, both in print and online.

We have teamed up with Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre to offer some fantastic prizes for the most imaginative images and scenic settings captured on camera from our newspaper catchment area.

This is a great way for keen amateur photographers to show off their talents and get their work published.

And the response has been incredible, far out-stripping the quantity and quality of entries in 2013.

Keighley News editor, Richard Parker, said: "Given the superb quality of the entries we've received, we've got some seriously talented amateur photographers living on our patch.

"Granted, having God's own country as the beautiful backdrop makes the task a little easier, but that said, some of the photographs are simply stunning."

Richard added: "I need to get my head together with Airedale Shopping Centre manager, Steve Seymour, to select our top ten favourites, after which readers will get the chance to vote for their favourite.

"In the meantime, here's a few more of the entries to whet readers' appetites before the top ten are published in early November."

The top ten will also go on display in the Airedale Shopping Centre at at later date.

In association with the centre's management, the overall winner of the Keighley News competition will receive a superb state-of-the-art GoPro Hero 3+ Sports Action digital camera, worth £360. This cracking bit of kit features 4k video capture, shoots in stunning 12 megapixel images, is waterproof up to 40 metres, Wi-Fi enabled and is fully wearable and mountable.

The prized picture will also be scanned onto a giant 30in by 20in canvas, worth about £100, courtesy of Max Spielmann, which has a branch in the Airedale Shopping Centre. And two runners-up will also receive a 30in by 20in £100 canvas of their entries.

Last year’s winner was Joe White, of Stanbury, whose picture perfect photo was of a rustic footpath sign pointing to Brontë Country on the moorland close to his home.
