A KEIGHLEY man is one of six people arrested after police seized a £4 million drugs haul.

More than half a tonne of cannabis with a street value of £3m, which was believed to be destined for delivery to London and Manchester , and five kilogrammes of cocaine valued at £1.1m, was seized when police intercepted three vans being loaded at an industrial unit in Ashford, Kent.

Six men were arrested, including Shakeel Quyam, 29, of Cark Road, Keighley.

The raids were carried out by the Middle Market Drugs Partnership, an amalgamation of officers from the National Crime Agency and the Metropolitan Police.

Vince Philpott, of the Middle Market Drugs Partnership, said: "We believe that the majority of this large quantity of drugs was set for distribution in London and Manchester. The National Crime Agency and the Metropolitan Police will continue to pursue and intercept in order to keep our towns and cities safe."
