KEIGHLEY people are being given the chance to air their views on how Bradford Council should prioritise its spending.

Residents and businesses are being urged to attend a meeting in the town tonight (Nov 13) to make their opinions known.

The event is the latest in a series being staged by the council to gather public feedback as more budget cuts loom.

Meetings have already taken place in Bingley and at City Hall, Bradford.

Council leader, Councillor David Green, said: "We need to get people's views on what they expect from their local services and how things can be done differently in the future in order to preserve those facilities they care about.

"We have already received some interesting comments and suggestions but still need to get more feedback.

"It's really important that council taxpayers have their say on what really matters to them."

Suggestions already made include devolving the council budget to individual areas and the taking up of some local authority activities by groups.

The council has cut its spending by over £170 million since 2011 and a further £130m in savings are expected to have to be made between now and 2020.

Tonight's meeting is at Central Hall, Alice Street, from 7pm to 9pm.
