Haworth, Oxenhope, Lees & Cross Roads Gardeners and Allotment Holders Association holds its annual meeting at Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth, tonight at 7.30pm. Members and non-members are welcome.

The 3 Acres country restaurant at Bingley Road, Cross Roads, is holding a Christmas charity event and fair in aid of Haworth Riding for the Disabled in its barn tomorrow, from 7pm. All proceeds will go to the charity. Visit the-3-acres.co.uk for further details.

The first event of Haworth’s Christmas calendar is a festive market, with plenty of stalls and traders in Central Park on Saturday and Sunday. Another of the popular craft fairs also takes place both days at the Old Bronte School Rooms, from 10am to 4pm, with handmade gifts and crafts. Admission is £1, including a hot drink. Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateur Operatic Company stages its annual Gilbert and Sullivan productions from Monday until November 22. This year is the group’s 50th anniversary so there is a double bill, with HMS Pinafore and Trial By Jury. Rehearsals are well under way, with Pamela Dimbleby directing the music. Haworth’s second Steampunk Weekend takes place from November 21 to 23. As well as splendid Victorian-based costumes with basques, goggles, top hats and watches, there will be music. There is a Burlesque evening at Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth, on the Friday and a band night on the Saturday, with three bands performing. Both events are in aid of Manorlands hospice. Steampunk fashions will also be paraded around Haworth all weekend, and there will be Steampunk fairs where clothes and accessories can be bought. The Friends of Lees Primary School (FoLees) will hold their Christmas fair in the school hall on November 29, from 10am to 1pm.

Acts of remembrance took place in Haworth and Cross Roads on Sunday at 11am, immediately after Remembrance Day services. Everyone found it particularly poignant with it being the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway has its wonderful Santa Special trains still open for bookings, but some days are full already. All tickets must be pre-booked for the services, which will run on Saturdays and Sundays from the end of this month until the weekend before Christmas Day, then on Christmas Eve.
