Oakworth Old People’s Welfare group meets at Holden Hall, from 1.45pm to 3.30pm. There is always something going on, with bingo, dancing etc at the weekly meetings. Sometimes there are trips out, and refreshments are always available. Anyone over 50 is welcome.

There is now an art club at Christ Church at 7.30pm. The group welcomes anyone with an interest in art, whether experienced or just beginning.

Keighley Youth Theatre, KYDZ, meets at Oakworth Methodist Church. The group has up to 20 members aged ten to 18, and recruits through drama workshops.

Sunday: Christ Church Sunday Eucharist takes place at 9.30am, followed by refreshments in the church hall. St John’s Church, Newsholme, has a sung Eucharist service at 11.15am. There will be a Heartbeat service at Christ Church at 7.30pm. This is a shared service of prayers and song with music by Living Waters, incorporating all the churches of the village. There is a 10.30am service at Oakworth Methodist Church, with refreshments afterwards in the church lounge. There is a service at 10.45am at Slack Lane Baptist Church.

Monday: Oakworth Scouts meet in Holden Hall at 7pm.

Remember your mum or gran making rugs out of old clothes cut into strips and prodded through hessian to make cosy comfortable rugs? This craft is alive and well. Airedale Ruggers meet in Oakworth Methodist Church lounge on the third Monday of each month at 6.30pm.

Oakworth Morris dancers are always on the lookout for dancers and musicians to help continue the tradition. They practice most Monday nights between September and July at Oakworth Methodist Church from 8pm, but it is advisable to contact them beforehand to make sure there is a practice on the night you wish to attend. Oakworth Village Society is staging a Christmas fair at Holden Hall at 2pm on December 6, and the annual memorial service at Tewitt Lane is at 2pm on January 4.

Oakworth Methodist Ladies Group will meet for an evening meal at Newsholme Manor at 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Messy Church this month is on November 27, following primary school. Admission is £2 per child, to include their tea, with stories, crafts and games. Children need to be accompanied by a parent or carer.

The remembrance service at Oakworth cenotaph was extremely well attended, with lessons and readings preceding the two-minute silence. The Guiding groups were well represented. The Scouts were away on camp, but I know they were marking the occasion whilst there.
