A SPORTS retailer has announced plans to open a cut-price gym in Keighley designed to promote "affordable fitness".

Sports Direct has said the facility will be the second of 200 Sports Direct gyms in the UK, with the first due to open next month (Dec) in Aintree on Merseyside.

Customers will be entitled to use the fully equipped gym for a one-off joining fee of £10, followed by £5 a month.

A spokesman for the business said: "Our gym membership will offer fantastic value for money in the same way that our customers have come to expect from our retail outlets and our website.

"This will be affordable fitness on an unprecedented scale.

"It will revolutionise the market by making private gym membership a realistic lifestyle choice for millions of people."

The spokesman added that he could not yet confirm exactly when and where the gym would be opening in Keighley. The existing Sports Direct Keighley branch is based in Cavendish Retail Park.
