Farnhill Parish Council was held earlier this month.

Darren Griffiths, the team leader for traffic engineering at North Yorkshire County Council, informed councillors the estimated cost for the proposed crossing at Cononley Crossroads would be about £16,000. The Council is finalising the plan to pass to its local area office for comment. He hopes to send the final drawing in the next week. Cononley Parish Council has stated it is happy to work together as a joint venture.

The county council told the parish council of reductions in highway grass cutting. Due to cutbacks in its budget from March, it intends to stop funding cutting where it is not required for safety reasons.

Urban roads will see a significant change. The approximate area to be cut in Farnhill will be reduced from 323 square metres to 16.15 square metres. Areas to be cut will be the junction of Main Street with Grange Road and the junction of Main Street with Bradley Road.

The clerk will tell the county council the verges at the bottom of Bradley Road, from the Farnhill side, need cutting back as they are encroaching onto the road and creating safety issues for both pedestrians and traffic.

Due to changes in the collection of refuse, new collection points need to be organised where people can take their bins. Craven Council has been informed of health and safety issues concerning staff, such as too many repetitive strain injuries caused by having to wheel a lot of bins back and forth. The people affected will be notified of the changes beforehand and if anybody has problems.
