A STREET LIGHT that has been located close to the middle of a pavement has raised a few eyebrows in Steeton.
The positioning of the column for the light in Skipton Road, close to the junction with Thornhill Road, has perplexed Craven ward councillors Chris Atkinson and Adrian Naylor.
Cllr Naylor, who said he had contacted the district council twice to ask for an explanation, added: “Bradford Council has recently been installing some new street lights, but for some reason one of them has been stuck in the middle of the pavement instead of right next to the wall, like all the others.
“It looks very strange, and we’re still trying to work out why this has been done. It’s not very convenient for any people on the pavement who might be pushing a pram or who are in a wheelchair. They will have some difficulty getting round it.
“I would be intrigued to know why they’ve done it. It just looks so stupid.”
No one from Bradford Council had responded by the time the Keighley News went to print.
