Morton and Riddlesden

Sunday: Morning worship – led by B Dransfield – and Church Fellowship at Riddlesden United Reformed Church, 10.30am.

Monday: Exercise class at Riddlesden United Reformed Church, 10.30am.

Morton Women’s Institute held its Christmas party, when members and guests were entertained by Haworth Brass Band. Everyone was encouraged to sing along to well-known Christmas carols, which were enjoyed by all. Following a buffet supper, Secret Santa presents were distributed and the annual table decoration raffle took place. This year, member Pam Dawson had knitted brightly-coloured turkeys and eight lucky ticket holders each took one home! A beautifully-decorated Christmas cake, made by president Heather Ross, was distributed to members. Mrs Ross wished everyone a happy Christmas. The next meeting, at Morton Institute on January 13 at 7.20pm, will be the annual meeting. Visitors are welcome. Entry is £3, including refreshments. People can attend up to three meetings before applying for membership.

A carol service will take place at St Mary’s Church at 9.30am on Sunday. The figures of Mary, Joseph and the donkey, which have been travelling from house to house around Riddlesden throughout this month, will finally find shelter in the stable at the children’s crib service at 5.30pm on Christmas Eve. Midnight Communion will begin at 11.30pm and the Christmas Day service will be at 9.30am.
