Wednesday: Bingo at the community centre, Gloucester Avenue, 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Silsden Churches Together group is staging a walking nativity on Sunday. Mary, Joseph and a real donkey, plus a few shepherds and kings, will call at the town’s pubs to see if there is any room at the inn. They will set off from Mount Carmel House at 2pm. No costumes are needed.

Don’t forget the Scouts’ post. Boxes and stamps are available at several shops throughout the town, with bargain rates for addresses within Silsden. Twiggs newsagents and Aireview Stores are among those taking part.

The history group’s next meeting, on Monday, is an informal get-together on a Christmas theme, including a quiz, the story of Christmas Past in Silsden and festive refreshments.

The Methodist Church has a coffee morning each day from Tuesday to Friday – Chatterbox from 9am to noon, Tuesday to Thursday, to meet, eat, drink and chat, and the original Friday coffee morning between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Disco Zumba is held at the town hall on Monday at 8.30pm and on Thursday from 6.15pm to 7.15pm. Wear suitable clothes and take water. All abilities welcome. Just turn up on the night.

Donations of tinned and non-perishable foodstuffs for food banks will be gratefully received at Silsden’s three churches any Sunday morning, and at Silsden Methodists’ refreshment area Tuesday to Friday, between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Take One youth drama group meets in the Gloucester Avenue community centre every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7pm. Meet and make friends while learning some great stage skills and get the chance to perform on stage. Contact David Hardman on 01535 657249.

1st Silsden is a thriving Scout group at St James’ Church and meets on Friday evenings. The group currently consists of Beavers, aged six to eight, Cubs (eight to ten) and Scouts (ten to 14), each holding separate meetings alongside activity days and camps throughout the year.

Slimming groups in Silsden include Slimming World on Tuesdays, with meetings at the town hall at 9.30am and St James’ Church at 5pm and 7pm. Call 07935 417214.
