IN THE wake of the recent appalling events in Paris, supposedly in the name of Islam, I should like to tell you about a Muslim woman, aged 20, the same age as my daughter, whom I met recently on the bus from Keighley to Bradford.
We began talking and I learned she was on her way to work for a charity in Bradford that helps homeless men, some of whom have been in prison.
At the moment she is a support worker, and eventually she hopes to study in order to become a probation officer. She acknowledged the work can be challenging at times but that she enjoyed being able to make a difference.
Her commitment and compassion make her a credit to her former school (Greenhead), to her family and to her community. This young woman is the true face of a life lived according to the teachings of Islam.
