A BUSY Keighley street is to be closed for resurfacing work.

Alice Street is due to be shut to traffic for three days.

The scheme is scheduled for today (Jan 15) and next Tuesday and Wednesday, but is dependent on weather conditions.

The street will be closed between 7.30am and 7pm and traffic will be diverted via Lawkholme Lane, Cavendish Street and North Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Contractor Sanmet Ltd is carrying out the work for Bradford Council.

"These essential carriageway resurfacing works are being carried out under road closure to ensure the safety of site staff and the general public," said a council spokesman.

"The road will be open overnight.

"Every effort will be made to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum and the highway maintenance unit apologises for any inconvenience caused."

The project was being preceded by kerbing works.
