REGULARS at a Bracken Bank social group are being given a takeaway meal when they go home.
The Good Life Coffee Stop already provides a light breakfast to people who attend the Monday morning sessions at the Sue Belcher Centre.
Now, thanks to the Winter Warmth Community Grants Scheme, the group is able to give customers a hot meal for lunch.
Community worker Pip Gibson said: “Members will take home a hot meal of soup or stew and a bread roll.
“This ensures that they will have been provided with two hot meals in relation to our service during those cold winter months.”
Members pay £2 for their breakfast, but the takeaway meals will be provided free until March 30.
The long-established group provides social activities for over-50s on Mondays from 10am to 11.30am at the community centre on Bracken Bank Avenue. Day trips are also provided during the year.
New members are welcome. Contact Pip on 07587 210101 or Allan Glew on 01535 667221 for further information.
