STUDENTS at Oakbank School put their best foot forward to raise money for charity.

In their PE lessons, the pupils took part in a mile-long run around the grounds of the school, in Oakworth Road, Keighley.

They raised over £600 through sponsorship for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust, which funds medical research into cancer affecting teenagers and young adults.

Among the outstanding individual fundraisers was year eight pupil Jessica Parker, who coined-in over £80.

"All the students did extremely well – with the run and fundraising," said Hannah Borkala, marketing and event officer at Oakbank.

"The amount raised by all the pupils was fantastic, and a particular 'well done' to Jessica.

"A big thank-you also goes to Mel Houldsworth and Kathryn Shepherd, who organised the event."
