KEIGHLEY firefighters struggled to reach a blazing car on the moors above Oxenhope last night.
The crew could not initially get to the vehicle on Nab Water Lane due to sheet ice on the remote road.
Instead they had to turn back and drive towards Halifax, going through Mixenden to reach the car from the other direction.
The crew then had to walk 200 yards to check that the car – by then a smouldering wreck – would not cause further danger.
A spokesman for Keighley Fire Station said that when his crew reached the location, near the Ovenden windfarm and Wainstalls, they also found three cars that had skidded off the road due to ice.
