Wharfedale Triangle League Premier Division: Cullingworth Youth 0 Shipley Town 1
Playing their first game since their 5-2 win over Bingley just before Christmas, Youth had to call on their coach Daniel Ratcliffe so they could field a full team.
A draw would have been a fair result but, in an even first half, Shipley created slightly more opportunities and scored the only goal in the 20th minute from 18 yards.
Playing downhill in the second period, Youth had 70 per cent of the play but it was one of those days when the ball simply would not go into the net.
Shipley’s keeper had a great game, like his Youth counterpart Michael Bright , with the pair winning their respective team’s man of the match award.
Youth have no match on Sunday and are at home to Ilkley Dynamo’s the following Sunday.
* Elsewhere in the top flight, Keighley Town were without a number of their regulars at Hawksworth St Margarets, who inflicted a rare 3-0 defeat on them.
But there was better news for Keighley Athletic, who triumphed 4-0 at Ilkley Dynamo thanks to goals from Ryan Stubbs (2), Aaron Davis and Joe Brady.
