A SITE in Denholme looks set to be transformed after years lying vacant.
Residents have long wished for the site of the now-demolished New Mill in Main Road to be developed, a planning meeting heard.
The meeting heard planning permission had been granted for the brownfield site before, but development had never started.
Now a new scheme for 86 two, three and four-bedroom homes had come forward.
Councillor Simon Cooke (Con, Bingley Rural) said the mill had closed back in around 1996 and the housing scheme was welcome.
He said: "The general view is that the development of this site would improve the village dramatically."
Planning agent Tom Cook said: "We now actually have a viable scheme with Prospect Homes which can be delivered."
The Government currently offers councils extra money for each new home built, called the New Homes Bonus, to address a national housing shortage.
Committee chairman Councillor David Warburton said this development could bring the council as much as £500,000.
The committee decided to specify that the money should be set aside for education in the area.
