MORE than 35 volunteers took part in a litter pick at Cross Roads Park on Saturday.

People of all ages supported the event, organised by the newly-formed Friends of Cross Roads Park (FCRP).

Group chairman Tito Arana said she was delighted with the turnout.

"In just two hours we collected 40 bags of rubbish – what great teamwork!" she added.

"We are very grateful to everyone who turned-up to help. We made a difference to the park."

Parish councillors were among those who helped.

Local parish council chairman, John Huxley, said it was noticeable how much dog dirt was in the park.

"The dog owners of Cross Roads are now on notice that the way in which they control their animals and clear-up after them is going to be monitored," he said.

"The litter pick was a great effort by the Friends."
