CHILDREN from three Keighley-district schools pedal-powered their way to success in a regional cyclo-cross championships.

Pupils from Oxenhope, Eastburn and Long Lee turned out in force for the British Schools Cycling Association event.

Sian Thompson was first in the under-seven girls category while Archie Gill was victorious in the under-seven boys, with Charlie Albone 11th and Louis Parkin 12th.

Noah Ellison was runner-up in the under-nine boys race, with Harry Ellison 10th and Owen Thompson 13th in the under-11 boys.

The youngsters train with the Bronte Tykes Cycling Club, which meets at Oakbank School in Keighley on Saturday mornings.

Peter Charlton, a club coach, said: "All the children performed well and really enjoyed themselves.

"They turn up for training come rain or shine with smiles on their faces and the hard work is really paying off."
