IT’S NOT often you win the top prize for coming the lowest.

But Keighley Weight Watchers leader Denise Walker has picked up a gold award in recognition of her members’ weight loss.

The gold award goes to the leader who has the most members reaching their target weight during a single year.

Denise, 51, who runs nine classes across Keighley and Bingley, was up against 45 other leaders in the Yorkshire and Manchester areas.

She recently received the award from her area manager.

Denise said: “I am always incredibly proud of my members, but never more so than when I accepted the award.

“So far in my nine meetings this year, members have lost a whopping 2,100lbs, that’s 150 stone.”

Denise, who is married with a 14-year-old son, lives in Long Lee and has been a Weight Watchers leader for the past 12 years, after losing almost three stone herself as a member.

Denise’s classes include: Riddlesden War Memorial Institute, Tuesday, 10am; Nessfield Primary School, Keighley, Wednesday, 5.30pm; Airedale Church Centre, Keighley, Thursday, 10am; Keighley Shared Church Hall, Thursday, 6pm; Salvation Army, Keighley, Saturday,9.30am.
