SOUTH Craven people are being urged to make a clean sweep.

Craven Council is supporting a national Community Clear Up Day on March 21.

And it is urging residents to tidy their neighbourhoods.

Councillor Carl Lis, lead member for Greener Craven, said: "Litter picking is not just a great way to transform public spaces, it also strengthens communities.

"Anyone can get involved and show some community spirit."

The council is offering litter pickers and free waste bags and will collect the rubbish.

The national initiative is being promoted by Keep Britain Tidy.
