Keighley fire crew extinguishes out of control bonfire
KEIGHLEY fire fighters were called out to tackle an unattended, out of control bonfire yesterday evening.
The crew from the Keighley station was called to North View Street, Beechcliffe, at 7.10pm.
A spokesman for the station said: "It was a large bonfire on some waste ground and no one was present.
"The fire was starting to spread across the field towards fencing and housing, and a plume of smoke was drifting towards the main Skipton Road."
He said that the fire fighters used one hose jet to extinguish the flames, adding that two full tanks of water were needed to ensure the fire did not re-ignite.
