A COMMUNITY campaigner wants local people to back a clean-up session designed to spruce up Lund Park.

Highfield resident Fulzar Ahmed is teaming up with the Friends of Lund Park group to organise the two-hour anti-litter blitz, which will take place from 10am to midday on Tuesday April 7.

Mr Ahmed said the occasion would also be used to promote the Green Dog Walkers Scheme, which was launched to encourage responsible dog ownership and reduce instances of dog fouling.

Mr Ahmed said people wanting to take part in the clean-up should meet at the park's Malsis Road entrance.

He added: "I'm calling on residents to come and show their support. The initiative will be an opportunity to improve the park and get it ready for the summer months. Having a park that is litter-free will boost local pride.

"Keighley Area Co-ordinator's Office will be providing us with bags, litter pickers and gloves, and has arranged for the cleansing services to come and collect the rubbish we pick up."
