TRAIN services were disrupted on the Aire Valley line today after high winds caused a plastic bag to get entangled in overhead wires.

The incident happened at Leeds station, and affected services towards Bradford, Keighley and Skipton.

At least two trains due to depart earlier this afternoon have been cancelled.

A spokesman for Northern Rail said: “The problem was a plastic bag that had become caught in overhead wires at Leeds station, and was affecting Bradford-bound services.”

The spokesman said trains had been bit by a "number of weather-related incidents" this morning.

"Our engineers are now on-site to fix the problem, and we hope to limit any further delays to a few minutes," she added.
