A MANORLANDS support group is celebrating a decade of success.

The Bingley group has raised more than £33,800 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice over the past ten years, it has been revealed.

Much of the money was coined-in through annual spring and autumn fairs and a Music for Manorlands concert last year.

Group chairman, Dr Anne Raine, said: "It's an outstanding amount of money to have been able to raise and we are all very proud.

"It's certainly a group effort – we all support each other in whatever way we can.

"I would encourage anyone who wants to support the hospice to consider either setting up their own group or joining an existing one.

"We always welcome new members. It's a lot of fun and you feel a great sense of achievement at the end of the day."

The support group, set-up over 25 years ago, is one of the hospice's longest-established.

Manorlands fundraiser Harriet Bevan pays tribute.

"I feel very fortunate to be able to work alongside the group," she said.

"In order to continue providing our incredible care, we rely heavily on donations from local supporters and of course from support groups such as this.

"Most of the members have witnessed the care we provide first hand so they understand how important it is that we are able to continue to provide it.

"They're a great group of friends and you can see their enthusiasm and dedication for the hospice come out in the work they do.

"I can't thank them enough and hope they continue to grow and prosper in the coming years."

The group's next event is its annual spring fair at St Mary & St Monica's Church, Cottingley, from 10am to noon on Saturday (Apr 18).

There will be stalls and a chance to win a luxury teddy bear.

Admission is £1, including a drink and homemade biscuits.
