HAWORTH Brass Band will be performing at six public events in Keighley over the coming year.

The band will play at the Aire Do, the Oktoberfest and on Remembrance Sunday.

Three other Keighley parish events featuring the band's music will be arranged by Keighley Town Council's events and leisure committee in conjunction with the town mayor and the town clerk.

Keighley Town Council last Thursday (April 9) voted in favour of it's civic centre committee recommendations setting out which functions the band will perform at.

Town mayor cllr Graham Mitchell explained that when the band first began rehearsing in the council's civic centre premises last year it had pledged to provide six free performances.

He added the town council was given the opportunity to choose where and when it would like the band to play.

Cllr Gary Pedley said he did not think the matter needed to be brought before the full town council, noting that it could easily be sorted out between the civic centre and events and leisure committees.
