KEIGHLEY'S Scout movement turned out in force on Sunday for its annual St George's Day parade.

Over 600 youngsters and adult members took part in the procession, led by the City of Bradford Pipe Band.

They made their way along Cavendish Street and North Street to St Anne's Church, for a service.

A salute was taken by Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, David Pearson, Keighley town mayor Councillor Graham Mitchell and district and county Scouting representatives.

During the service a candle was lit by Keighley Scouts' chairman Ken MacKenzie in memory of his wife Frieda, who died last year following 58 years' service to the movement.

Long-service medals were also presented, including a 40-year accolade to Geoff Priestley.

And there was a presentation by the Make a Wish foundation, the district's charity of the year.

Mr MacKenzie said: "I was delighted to see so many young people and leaders on parade, showing the Scout movement is going from strength to strength in the Keighley area.

"It makes me proud to be a member of this amazing youth movement."
