COWLING and Thornton lead Mewies Solicitors Craven League Division Two after former pacesetters Bradley tasted defeat for the first time.

Thornton made 220-7 at Airedale, led by James Greenwood (63no) and Scott Howarth-Hynes (47), before the Bradford Road side were hustled out for 102 as Mark Paxton rolled back the years with figures of 15-12-7-3.

Cowling were at home to Wilsden and got home by six runs. The Coliseum side made 150-9, with Martyn Dalby scoring 33 and Ajmal Choudrhy 32, and the visitors were cruising at 104-4 before reaching the last two overs needing 20 to win.

Bradley’s Neil Andrews made 70 not out and Craig Tempest 33 as their side set a target of 171 for Long Lee at Matthew Lane but the visitors stormed to a five-wicket victory.
