KEIGHLEY shoppers were put in the picture about mental health at a pop-up cafe last week.

Social enterprise Brium and Keighley training agency Confianza organised the temporary cafe in the Airedale Shopping Centre.

Tea, coffee and scones were offered to visitors as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Pete Scotcher from Brium, which delivers well-being courses, said visitors were also asked to draw pictures of things that helps them ‘be well’.

He said: “Curious passers-by dropped in and chatted and drew. There were lots of pictures of pets and family, as well as cameras, bikes, food and music.

“There was a good turnout on each of the three days, including members of the local NHS mental health team. Members of a local recovery support group come along too.

"The day showed me that people are open to talk about mental health, and everyone who came celebrated something that helps to be well."

Brium runs well-being courses under the banner Wellness Recovery Action Plan, while Confianza runs the cafe at Central Hall in Alice Street.
