WHAT a season it has been for Pennine Bowling Club for the visually impaired.
June Holroyd had the honour of representing England at the World Championships held in New Zealand against the best visually impaired bowlers from 12 other countries.
And club members have just returned from competing in a national competition at Leamington Spa, where they achieved notable success.
The week-long event culminated in victories for Gareth Harwood in the B4 singles and Harwood and his partner Kevin Page in the B4 pairs.
Pennine Bowling Club have a membership of 15 visually impaired bowlers plus ten helpers and are always looking for new bowlers, male or female.
The club can provide all the equipment, so the cost would be small for new bowlers. They meet every Tuesday morning at Wellholme Park, Brighouse during the summer season, and in the winter indoors at Whitcliffe Mount, Cleckheaton, also on Tuesdays.
Saturday matches against sighted teams, four summer and two winter tournaments plus two social trips in the Yorkshire Dales and the Scarborough area make up the bowling calendar.
