FIRE FIGHTERS have dealt with four car fires in Keighley - all started deliberately - in the space of about 24 hours.

A stolen Volvo estate car was dumped on a track near Hill Top Farm, Hainworth Road, Keighley, and then destroyed in a blaze at about 1am yesterday morning. (July 26)

At around 2.30am the same morning, two cars parked within a short distance of one another were damaged in suspect arson attacks which may be linked.

The front end of a Mercedes 4x4 parked outside a house in Clifton Street, off Fell Lane, Keighley, was damaged by fire at around 2.30am. Around the same time a Mitsubishi Shogun parked on nearby Mannville Road also suffered front end fire damage.

Fire crews from Keighley and Bingley dealt with the fires yesterday.

In yet another incident at 1.50am this morning (July 27) a Ford Focus parked in Second Avenue, off Victoria Road, was set alight.

The crew from the Keighley Station responded and remained at the scene for half an hour. A spokesman for the station said this fire was confined to the car's engine compartment, but caused severe damage before it was put out.
