A COWLING woman has completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks to help fund voluntary work overseas.
Laura Hepworth was among a group of six that took on the gruelling mountain challenge – incorporating Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – covering the route in 11 hours 20 minutes.
"It was really hard work – we all had moments when we were unsure whether we would manage it, but we supported each other and made it through," she said.
"We ached for a good few days afterwards but it was worth it because more than £1,000 has been raised.
"The support we have received from people has been fantastic."
She was joined on the challenge by her mum, Diane Ward; Steeton resident Lyndsey Hanson with her partner, Nick Wearmouth; and other friends Emily Capper and Max Bridges.
Laura, 22, who runs a mobile beauty business, needs to raise £2,000 for a two-week trip to Sri Lanka in September.
She is heading out to the country with Projects Abroad to work with disadvantaged children.
Proceeds from the walk are also going to the Stroke Association in memory of Lyndsey's grandmother.
