A MUSIC festival staged at the eleventh hour following the cancellation of another event has struck a chord with Manorlands.

The Plan B festival raised over £241 for the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice.

It was hastily organised after the planned Moorfest 15 event, due to take place in a field at The Three Acres pub above Keighley, was cancelled due to licence issues and poor ticket sales.

Nearly 40 acts were lined up to play at the Moorfest extravaganza, which was to split its proceeds between Manorlands and Target Ovarian Cancer.

Most bands performed instead at the 'replacement' festival.

Plan B was organised by John Bell, with Michael Watmough of Keighley Musicians Centre, where the two-day event was held.

The money raised was donated by guests.

"It was a very tiring weekend but it was a success and I'm proud to have been a part of such a great event raising money for Manorlands," said Mr Bell.

Andrew Wood, the Manorlands-based Sue Ryder fundraiser for Keighley, thanked the organisers and bands and all those who attended.

He added: "It was great that between them John and Michael managed to quickly organise this event which has benefited the hospice."
