KEIGHLEY'S MP says his office has been working to ensure family members of a young Haworth man who died in Greece receive the support they need.
Kris Hopkins was responding this afternoon to the death of 23-year-old Danny Kelly.
Mr Kelly's death, on the island of Zakynthos of Monday, is now being investigated by Greek police following reports that he had fled into the sea to escape an assault.
Mr Hopkins said: “I was contacted by the Kelly family’s solicitor to advise me of the tragic circumstances of Danny’s death.
“My office has since been in regular contact with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to make sure that all necessary resources are made available to his family.
“I have asked to be kept fully updated and stand ready to provide any further support that is required.
“Danny’s passing, at such a young age on his summer holiday, is desperately sad news.
“My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and many friends.”
