POLICE who stopped a Keighley motorist found him in possession of drugs, heard magistrates.

Badar Mumir Yusuf, 23, was found to have a bag containing a small amount of cannabis, and individual wraps of white powder, which was later confirmed as cocaine.

The Skipton court heard Yusuf was stopped in Keighley Road, Cross Hills, in the early hours of May 25 and told police they belonged to him and were for his own use.

In mitigation, Arshad Mahmood said Yusuf, who had no previous convictions, was not a habitual user of drugs and had bought the cocaine and cannabis in preparation for a night out.

"He is genuinely law abiding and is extremely ashamed and upset about his actions," he said.

Yusuf, of Spencer Street, admitted the possession of a class A and a class B drug. He was fined £180 and ordered to pay criminal court costs of £180, prosecution costs of £85 and a surcharge of £20.
