AN annual summer holiday club jointly staged by a pair of Keighley churches has again proven a big hit with local youngsters.

The club ran from August 17 to August 21 and was arranged by Exley Head Methodist Church and Trinity Church in Fell Lane.

Members of both churches put on the activities, including four teenage volunteers. They ran five morning sessions for a group of 26 five to 11-year-olds.

A spokesman for the organisers said: "The children had a brilliant time, enjoying crafts, songs, team challenges, games, drama and stories based on the Bible.

"This year's club was called Desert Detectives, and aimed to show the children that the Bible is full of exciting stories which fit together into one big story.

"Every child was presented with a certificate for qualities the children had recognised in each other during the week, such as kindness, sharing, helpfulness or showing special talent in the craft work and games.

"When the children were asked which was their favourite activity, the overwhelming reply was “All of the holiday club!'"
