WITH only two matches left of the Aire-Wharfe League season to settle who gets the glory and who is for the drop, it would not be surprising if a few players had restless nights this week, going over the what might have beens.

Tomorrow’s fixtures – several setting top against bottom – are unlikely to resolve many issues but they could see a few more drop out of the race.

The Division One title is a straight fight between Beckwithshaw and Otley, who fell five points in arrears after their surprise defeat by North Leeds last week.

The two meet in the final showdown of the season, and Otley could well have regained top spot by then because tomorrow they face relegation- threatened Follifoot, a side they bowled out for 81 earlier in the season, while Beckwithshaw have a difficult trip to third-placed Kirkstall.

At the other end of the table, level on points with Follifoot, Guiseley tackle North Leeds, knowing they need every point if they are to close the 14-point gap to Ilkley, the side that beat them in a nail-biter last week.

Ilkley have no easy task at Burley, who beat them by 104 runs earlier thanks to a century stand between Sami Rehman and Jason Wright.

In a much more relaxed atmosphere, Rawdon entertain Collingham and Steeton play hosts to Bilton, both looking to avenge early-season defeats.

Pool have been in the top four of Division Two since week seven, and their crushing win over Thackley last week, while leaders Skipton were losing, means they are now only three points off the promotion spots.

With Charlie Bell and David Paynter in top batting form, they are likely to prove too strong for Harden, who are only three points above the relegation zone.

Having opened up a ten-point gap at the top, Horsforth tackle Tong Park Esholt, who raised hopes they might escape the drop with last week’s victory over Adel.

Second-placed Skipton travel to Thackley, who are almost safe but need points to be certain.

Green Lane are all but mathematically doomed to go down but could do Tong Park Esholt and Harden a favour if they can beat Knaresborough and keep them in the relegation mix.

Ben Rhydding entertain Colton, who have drifted out of the promotion race in recent weeks but will still prove testing opposition.

Addingham have opened up a 20-point gap at the top of Division Three, so are hot favourites to go up but they face a tough couple of weeks against sides still hoping for promotion and who have already beaten them this season.

They start against New Rover tomorrow, followed by Hall Park next week – two teams in bunch of five, covered by just 18 points, who still hope to claw their way into the top two.

Two of that bunch, Olicanian and Old Modernians, go head to head, while Hall Park will be expected to overcome bottom side Silsden.

Calverley, who are currently second, entertain Upper Wharfedale and, with struggling Bardsey to come next week, victory tomorrow could all but clinch their promotion two years after suffering relegation.

Menston and Bolton Villas have winnable home games against Bardsey and Alwoodley respectively.
