A BIRTHDAY party rapist who left his teenage victim so traumatised that she left the country has been locked up for seven years.

Married father-of-four, Majid Ali, attacked the 17-year-old girl in a bedroom, leaving her physically injured and suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, Bradford Crown Court heard.

Ali, who was almost twice the girl's age, demanded that she cut him a line of cocaine after sexually assaulting and orally raping her at a house in Keighley.

He was yesterday convicted of the offences by a jury which took under two hours to reach its verdicts.

Ali, 34, of Bronte Street, Keighley, bowed his head in the dock as the guilty pleas were read out by the foreman.

He lied to the jury throughout his trial, claiming the girl, who was a stranger to him and a guest at the party, pursued him for sex and made up the rape allegation because he turned her down.

Now 19, she had moved well away from the area since the attack in January 2014, prosecutor Ian Howard said.

In a statement to the court, she said it had ruined her relationship with her then boyfriend.

"I find it hard to discuss it. I don't trust anyone anymore, even men in my own family," she said.

She told how she sank into "a dark point" when she suffered nightmares and flashbacks. She was still emotionally unstable and cried a lot.

She had moved "a great distance away" and missed her family terribly.

The teenager said she had seen a doctor and a psychiatrist and been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder. She needed medication for depression and to help her sleep.

She cried out so loudly in nightmares that her neighbours could hear.

In mitigation, Ali's barrister, David Hall, said the sexual attack was a short episode. The defendant had no previous convictions for sexual offences.

The court was told that 15 years ago, Ali was sentenced to three years in a young offender institution for supplying heroin. He had since been convicted of battery and possession of cocaine.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge Roger Thomas QC, said Ali's victim was "a decent young girl" who went to bed after drinking at the party.

Ali took advantage of her, telling her she would enjoy it.

"She was petrified and terrified. She told her mother and then the police," Judge Thomas said.

"She is paranoid and worried and she suffers flashbacks and night terrors."

Ali must sign on the sex offenders' register for life and Judge Thomas made a Sexual Harm Prevention Order banning him from ever communicating with his victim.
