A SEARCH and rescue team was called out yesterday to help retrieve an injured woman from the moors above Cowling.
The volunteer team from the Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team raced to Earl Crag, near Cowling Pinnacle, at about 11.40am.
They were called by a St John Ambulance crew who were working on behalf of the Yorkshire Ambience Service and its Hazardous Area Response Team.
Once on the crag the 12-strong Calder Valley team found a 48-year-old woman who had sustained a suspected broken ankle.
They brought the woman off the hill where she was taken to hospital by ambulance, and around 90 minutes after the callout they returned to base.
Later that afternoon the team was called to Otley Chevin to help police retrieve a vulnerable female from a precarious situation after she became very cold and unresponsive.
