KEIGHLEY residents could join the cast of a major movie due to be shot in the town this autumn.

A casting call was issued this week for townspeople to take part in crowd scenes being shot during October and November.

Film spokesman, Guy Campbell, said the aim is to use as many local people as possible as extras to give authenticity to the period drama.

Mr Campbell, the crowd second assistant director, said he is unable to reveal details of the film’s title, cast or production company.

But he said: “It will have an international cinematic release.

"While not a studio blockbuster, it has a great cast and is being made by a company with a strong slate of independent movies behind them.”

Mr Campbell, who lives and works in New Zealand, was crowd second assistant director for recent major UK films Far From The Madding Crowd and Belle.

He has also carried out various assistant director roles on TV series Mr Selfridge, The Bill and Some Girls, as well as movie blockbusters The Dark Knight Rises and Captain America.

Mr Campbell has organised an open casting for Saturday at a Keighley location to be confirmed, for anyone aged 16 or over.

He said: “The film is set in the 19th century and will be an interesting experience for all involved.

“It is a period feature film, so we are mostly looking for Caucasian men and women, 16 to approximately 70 years old, to be historically faithful.

“However, there will be some scenes where will be using a variety of ethnicities.”

Mr Campbell is particularly looking for men with beards, moustaches and sideburns, but this is not essential. For women, natural longer hair is preferable, but not essential.

Extras must have no tattoos that would be visible over normal clothes. Nails will need to be natural for filming, and ideally people will have no tans or heavy piercing.

Mr Campbell added: “We will be filming a variety of different scenes and are looking for character faces, big personalities and interesting looks.

“Anyone with any special talents should let us know – dancers, circus skills, silver service or anything interesting or unusual.”

During the casting session, Mr Campbell's team will take measurements and a photograph, and if selected, people will be contacted individually for filming dates.
