KEIGHLEY shoppers can make a sparkling donation to Manorlands Hospice, thanks to a charity champion.

Mike Maru is aiming to give ten per cent of a week’s takings from his new car hand wash and valet business Sparkles at Airedale Shopping Centre to the hospice.

The donation is to say "thanks" to the local community in helping him set up the company, which is based in the centre’s car park.

Mike, 41, is a committed charity volunteer, helping out regularly at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary as well as with African aid charities.

He began a week's worth of fundraising for the hospice on Sunday, as Manorlands is the Airedale Centre’s chosen charity.

Airedale Shopping Centre manager Steve Seymour said: “It’s great news that such a new business as Sparkles is joining us in raising money for Manorlands.

“We're confident they are going to be a popular addition to the centre."

Andrew Wood, senior fundraiser for the hospice, said: “We are very grateful to Sparkles Hand Car Wash for thinking of us to benefit from their business.

“Every car washed will help us provide local care for people living with serious illnesses.”

People interested in getting a clean and valet for their vehicle to help Manorlands for the remainder of this week can find Sparkles at the main entrance open from 9am to 5.30pm.
