A FUNDRAISER for two charities staged in Cross Roads raised more than £2,000.

The event at the Three Acres, in Bingley Road, was organised by two friends to support both Haworth Riding for the Disabled (RDA) and Airedale Hospital Dementia Care Fund.

Entertainment took place at the venue from late afternoon till 11pm on September 26, and was arranged by physiotherapy assistant Joanne Ogden, who works with elderly people with dementia and alzheimers and her friend Yvonne Hockey, whose 12-year-old daughter Tyla volunteers for Haworth RDA.

The occasion included bouncy castles, costumed mascots, face-painting, a water-filled dunking tank, an auction and a tombola. There was also a hog roast, a cake stall, a DJ and a disco.

Mrs Ogden said: "The day was a huge success and we raised £2,100 for our chosen charities."

Mrs Hockey said: "It was fantastic, about 230 people came along and we were very busy throughout the day.

"We had a female vocalist called Emzy and an acoustic guitarist, Laura Mcghee, who were both amazing."

She paid special tribute to Long Preston-based company Baby Mouse. The firm stepped in at the last minute to provide singer Jordan Danielle Rhodes as Elsa from the animated film Frozen, and a costume of the character Olaf, which was worn by the event's DJ, Jamie Copperwaite.
