THERE ARE four guided walks across the district this month as part of the busy autumn and winter season from Bradford Council.

The council’s Countryside Service has organised about 40 walks, led by volunteers, which showcase some of the best countryside of West Yorkshire and beyond.

The season begins on Sunday (October 11) with Glen And Moor, a five-mile circular walk over Shipley Glen and Baildon Moor. Walkers should meet Kenneth Allen at Saltaire Station at 10.30am.

Sun Lane’s Secret is the title of a pleasant circular walk lasting just over four miles, which provides views across Wharfedale. Meet Gillian Dale outside Burley Grange in the centre of Burley in Wharfedale on Wednesday at 10.30am.

Toad In The Hole is a circular four-mile walk through South Bradford, described as a pretty interesting part of Bradford, on October 22. Meet at 1.30pm at the Victoria Park car park off Cleckheaton Road, Low Moor.

A five-mile walk skirting Old Hanna Wood will be held on October 28, following a section of the Brontë Way to see a waterfall and a picturesque village. Meet Barbara Walker at 10.30am at the car park at the bottom of Bridle Stile, of the A6036 Halifax Road at Shelf.

During the autumn there will also be walks in Menston, Ilkley, Pudsey, Queensbury, Shipley and Baildon.

There will be an Oxenhope Circular on November 15, a Candlemass Eve walk between Haworth and Oxenhope on December 12, and a trip to the Brontë Falls on Boxing Day.

The New Year features walks entitled Scenic Silsden, The Hermit Of Rombalds Moor, the Real Worth Valley, Around Cullingworth, Blind Date and Get Your Kicks On Route 66.
