THE JAZZ Company Quintet will welcome tenor sax player Tom Luckett and jazz balladeer Sally Edmondson to the next gig.

The musicians will perform as part of the Jazz Company’s residency at Roland’s Bar in Skipton Road, Utley, tomorrow. (October 9)

The band and their leader Doug Edmondson perform on the second Friday of every month from 8pm, and admission is free.

Doug said Tom Luckett was a popular tenor sax man.

He said: “This very active local musician is normally busy rehearsing and gigging with big band formats as well as his teaching commitments.

“Draw him into frontline duty and away from the restraint of written form, and his deep and sensitive interpretation of the 20th century jazz and swing composers comes to the fore.

“His strong awareness of the jazz ballad makes him a natural choice to support the band’s vocalist Sally Edmondson.

“Sally’s pure melodic pitch and acute awareness of correct lyrical form has been thrilling listeners at Roland’s for over four years.”

Appearing alongside guitarist Doug will be trumpet and flugelhorn player Steve Longbottom. Guest bassist Yves Dumont will be giving a French flavour to the band.

Call Roland's Bar on 01535 958001 for further information about the gig.
