VICTIMS of crime must be made a priority to rebalance a justice system that too often favours the criminals, says Cullingworth and Denholme MP Philip Davies.
He is demanding a timescale for when a Victims’ Law and tougher sentencing will be introduced – two Conservative manifesto pledges from the last general election.
"I want action, not just words," he said.
"I have long campaigned for tougher sentences, but we need to make sure that when these changes come in, judges are using the full powers available to them and, importantly, sentences are served in full.
"Too often victims are forgotten and everything seems to focus around the rights and needs of the criminal."
Commons leader, Chris Grayling, said the Victim’s Law will be introduced and said Government "would move on to that soon and it would make a difference".
