RECORDS galore were broken by Skipton Swimming Club members in City of Leeds' Level Two meet for older swimmers at the John Charles Aquatic Centre for Sport.

The two-day meet was for swimmers aged 13 to 17 and over, and there were 11 Skipton records and two club open records that fell among a crop of North East Regional qualifying times and personal bests.

Leading the way was 14-year-old Ethan Camsey. He set five club bests and one club open record, earning three North East Regional qualifying times in winning a gold, a silver and two bronzes.

His 1min 05.14sec in the 100 metres butterfly not only broke his own club record on his way to a bronze medal but also set a new club open mark, but he bettered that with a gold medal in the 100m backstroke in 1min 04.52sec, which was a club record and a NER qualifying time.

He also took silver with a personal best 2.08.23 in the 200m freestyle in another NER qualifying time, and his other bronze came in the 100m freestyle in 59.30.

Ethan also beat his own club record of 2:21.52 in the 200m individual medley and his 35.45 in the 50m breaststroke, where he was fifth, was also an NER qualifying time.

Joel Phillip, made it into four finals, breaking Skipton's record in the 13 years' boys' 50m backstroke in 32.96, while Lauren Hanson broke two of Julia Scrivin's club records for 16 years in the 50m backstroke, where she took bronze and set an NER qualifying time in 31.17 (that mark has stood for seven years), and 100m freestyle, where she was seventh in 1:02.30.

Hannah Raistrick also broke two club marks – in the 13 years' 50m freestyle (28.39, which was also a club open record) and 50m butterfly (30.71), and also lowered her best in the 200m freestyle by six seconds in clocking 2:19.53 as she reached three finals out of three.

Mark Mahoney set two new marks at 17 years in the 100m breaststroke (1:11.90) and 50m butterfly (28.79).

Among those who didn't break any Skipton records but distinguished themselves were Tom Barrett, who took gold in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m freestyle, both with personal bests that were six seconds faster than before, his other bests coming in the 400m IM and 50m freestyle.

Dec Sequeira set personal bests in all six of his events, gaining silver in the boys' 13-14 years' 100m IM (1:17.81) and setting an NER qualifying time in the 50m butterfly (34.37), while 16-year-old Millie Sharpe set five personal bests on her way to five finals – 200m backstroke (2:35.27), 50m backstroke (32.79), 50m freestyle (29.02), 100m butterfly (1:11.44) and 50m butterfly (30.95).
