SCHOOL children have performed the honours at the reopening of Oakworth's revamped Co-op store.

Members of Oakworth Primary's school council cut the ribbon at the ceremony.

Assistant headteacher, Kath Kenniford, said: "We had the council elections this month and their first job was to represent the school by cutting the ribbon!"

The Victoria Road store has been given a £350,000 makeover.

And the branch is launching a new Co-op community pioneer role, where a staff member will work to foster involvement in community activities, including fundraising initiatives.

Store manager, Mariyam Siddique, said: "We are thrilled to have made such a significant investment in Oakworth and are delighted we have a fantastic new food store with which to serve the community – it is an exciting time for the whole team."
