STAFF at a medical practice have produced a calendar to raise money for Manorlands.

The team at the Silsden and Steeton practice spent nearly 40 hours shooting the images – using 22 models, three make-up artists, a vintage car, a horse and a seagull!

Dr Helen Walker, who led the project, said: "The idea came about from a comment by a receptionist that we should do a Calendar Girls-style calendar.

"After further discussion it was decided that naked calendars had probably had their day, so instead we decided to do a humorous fun-poking look at the NHS and general practice with a bit of good old Yorkshire thrown in!

"We had three main aims – to have some fun, to bring the team together in a time when working in general practice is very tough, and to raise some money for the wonderful Manorlands hospice with whom we work very closely and which provides a priceless service for our local community."

Andrew Wood, the hospice's senior fundraiser for Silsden and Steeton, thanked the team.

"I've been lucky enough to have a sneak preview of the calendar shots and they are fun and very professionally done," he added.

"Special thanks should also go to Chloe Gorton, Sophie Wall and Charlotte Hubbard – the make-up artists – Kevin Prime of York Photo Studio and Bradley Walker for their behind the scenes help."

The calendars are available – priced £10 each, plus £2 postage and packing – from Manorlands, Silsden Health Centre and through the Facebook page Silsden Charity Calendar.
